City Seeking Applications for Founding Board of Community Land Trust
 
LAGUNA BEACH, CA – The City of Laguna Beach is currently accepting applications from community members interested in serving on the Founding Board of the Laguna Beach Community Land Trust, a soon-to-be-formed nonprofit organization dedicated to creating long-term affordability and access to housing and land in Laguna Beach for broad charitable purposes including, but not limited to, artist housing, artist workspaces, senior housing, and workforce housing.
 
The Land Trust will serve as a mission-driven steward of land and housing in the community, with a vision of creating permanent affordability and public benefit. While it will not hold any property at the time of incorporation, the organization may receive its first property within the first six months of operation.
 
The Founders Board will be composed of five to seven members, appointed by the City Council’s Community Land Trust Ad Hoc Committee, with each member serving an initial two-year term. Members will help guide the development of the nonprofit’s governance, outreach, resource building, and early property stewardship strategy.
 
Ideal applicants may bring experience in affordable housing, real estate, land use, nonprofit law or governance, finance, sustainability, or community organizing. Lived experience in affordable housing is also welcomed.

This is an important opportunity for members of the founding board to shape the direction, structure, and capacity of a mission-driven organization at its inception.
