On the day that Laguna Beach Residents take back their town (Tuesday September 6th, the day after Labor Day), Skyloft Restaurant is celebrating with the release of a "Locals Only" Secret Menu.
Titled "The Artifacts," the secret menu can certainly be defined as "an item of cultural interest," but it also pays homage to Laguna's rich art foundation, as well as the innovative Skyloft Chef who came up with the idea- Chef Arthur Ortiz.
"When you live in a creative, energetic town like Laguna, you deserve to have a menu that's innovative and fun... and all your," says Chef Arthur.
The Artifacts Menu is one that can only asked for by name. It stands out completely separate of the Skyloft breakfast, lunch and dinner menus, all of which Chef Arthur has already re-shaped and molded to a tastier dynamic. (The revised dinner menu launches a week after The Artifacts launch.)
"I wanted to create a menu that Laguna Locals would immediately get and understand," says Chef Arthur, Skyloft's recent transplant from the esteemed Au Cheval Restaurant in Chicago. "Every time I would shoot hoops on Main Beach's courts, I'd be thinking, 'Hmm, what kind of amazing food would i love to get my hands on right now?'... and that's how I came up with it."
Although a gorgeous, low-calorie "Fruit & Honey" shareable platter adorns The Artifacts Menu, expect meaty decadence, too, with a handful of (giant) Super Taco concoctions, "Sky Fries" (to which you can add chunks of smoked bacon or a fried egg), crafty sandwiches of serious heft, Brisket Bowls and more.
While we all know that rumor of secret menus eventually finds its way to the masses... ("If you know to ask for it by name, we figure you're either a Laguna resident or have good friends in Laguna who really adore you," notes Chef Arthur)... Skyloft wants to be sure Laguna Locals know they have first dibs on The Artifacts Menu. Watch for distributed and mailed postcards offering a month-long discount on the new secret menu. Locals might also discover taste samplers at another popular locals' event, The Taste of Laguna, on Wednesday, September 21st.
