In celebration of its 75th Anniversary in Laguna Beach, Neighborhood Congregational Church has teamed with Laguna Friends of Architecture to show the community the extensive history of the architecture and art contained on the Church property since 1943. The event takes place on March 9, 6:30pm at Neighborhood Church. A Docent Tour will include viewing the original Sanctuary with mahogany beams and stained glass windows designed by famous Laguna architect Aubry St. Clair. In the 1960’s the new Sanctuary was built, with its ceiling designed to resemble an upside down Ark. The extensive art in both areas was created and gifted by local artisans, some whose families still reside in Laguna today. The tour will also include the Manse, where the Pastor would have lived on property in the old days, with quite a short commute to work! Join us for a presentation by noted Architectural historian and writer Ted Wells, a docent tour of the church property, and refreshments. This will be one in a series of 75th Anniversary special events at The Neighborhood this year, including world peace, community and special justice projects.
