Laguna Beach Garden Club Welcomes Speaker To Discuss The Trees Of California

LBGC Speaker Series for October features Dr. Matt Ritter of Cal Poly San Luis Obispo.

The Laguna Beach Garden Club is excited to welcome our second speaker for the 2020/21 year! The LBGC has a spectacular line up of speakers this year. Don’t miss out on the opportunity to become a member and attend our Zoom meetings and guest speakers. Join us at our second meeting of the year on October 9th, at 10am. Our October speaker, Dr. Matt Ritter will guide us through a Zoom presentation, about the trees of California, which has been his life-long passion. He is a Biology professor at Cal Poly SLO and shares his love of California trees with his hundreds of university students each year. Dr. Ritter is the author of A Californian's Guide to The Trees Among Us, which features over 150 of California's most commonly growing trees. Dr. Ritter also authored California Plants: A Guide To Our Iconic Flora, which he describes California's landscapes and iconic plants. He is an expert in his field and we are looking forward to all that he has to share. He was raised in a small Northern California town where a love of trees was cultivated through woodworking, gardening and educational experiences from San Diego to Northern California. Matt nurtures curiosity and wonder about the green world around us. His ability to teach people about the wonder of trees and plants comes through in all he does, in the hope to open our eyes to the beauty right outside.
