Wildfires are a fact of life in Orange County. In areas like Laguna Beach, where homes and communities border wilderness areas, we need to be informed and prepared for them! Come learn with Conservation Director Alan Kaufmann from Laguna Canyon Foundation about how fires in wilderness areas behave, and how we can all take steps to protect ourselves, our communities, and our precious wilderness areas.
We will cover the basics of fire ecology and fire behavior in coastal scrub ecosystems, how these are changing, and measures that communities and individuals can take to protect life, property, and the habitats along the wildland-urban interface and make our communities more resilient.
